LOCAL SEO

Local SEO is More Important Than Ever

Local SEO is very different than a traditional SEO campaign. Whether it’s finding a service provider in your neighbourhood or finding a local gas station while on the road, local SEO refers to geo-targeted web searches with location specific results. It’s not just about finding a list of options, it’s about finding a list of options near you. There is a unique algorithm that deals with local SEO results, so it’s important to work with an SEO provider that has experience in this increasingly competitive field.

Local Map Packs

Currently, a Google search results page dedicates a specific section to the local search results as the relevant information you are looking for appears in the Map Pack section. (INCLUDE IMAGE). Once upon a time there were places for 7 listings (referred to as the 7-pack), but now there is only a 3-pack, and Google is rolling out a paid spot within that group, leaving only 2 organic results within the local map pack. This means local SEO is more competitive than ever. Compounded by the ever increasing number of searches on mobile devices, local SEO is not only more competitive than ever before, it’s more important.

Getting Started With Local SEO

The first step towards appearing on the top of the map pack is having a properly filled out Google My Business page. This information sets the record straight on your local, business name, address, contact information, all paramount to local search results. Chances are that if you haven’t yet created a Google My Business (GMB) page for your company, it is waiting to be claimed, and more importantly optimized. The more information you provide to Google, the better chances you have at ranking locally.
