If you spend too much time reading about SEO and link building instead of actually doing SEO and link building then you might be of the mindset that “link building is dead”. If that’s what you believe then perfect… less competition for me on the SERP’s make my day easier thank you very much!
I’ve been told “link building is dead” ever since I started doing SEO back in 2008. Once again mainly from naive authors and SEO bloggers who have probably never even built a single link in their life, or maybe tried for 2-3 hours and then gave up because “it was too hard” or “people didn’t write back to my emails”.
Link building is not easy; it takes a lot of time, effort, hard work communication skills, analytical skills, great content and being able to understand people (individual bloggers, webmasters, etc). I always laugh when people try and tell me that links don’t work, or they know (better than me) the perfect combination of dofollow vs nofollow vs keyword or non-keyword focus for anchor texts and inbound links.
For the record, I’ve personally handled on average at least 40-50 campaigns per month, every single month for over 7 years. I know what does and does not work when it comes to link building and SEO success. When I was checking around the SEO blogs this morning the following post by one of the original SEO experts, Eric Ward, brought a smile to my face.
